original blue trident label pressing, dead wax van gelder stamp. cleaned on VPI, play grades strong exc > m-. from the collection of duluth collector richard runquist, which means tape residue on the cover where he attached a record's downbeat review. also edge wear, & runquist's name written on the back in ballpoint along with some ballpoint squiggles. but not bad, at all. fall of '92 i dug this out of carlson's book & record in duluth, once a deep repository for great vinyl. incredible audio & performances; a magnificent van gelder capture, massive album.
this record comes from the first of two jazz collections comprised almost entirely of '50s & '60s original mono pressings & promotional copies to be auctioned by farmeralfalfa here on ebay over the next six months. the collections will list approximately fifty records at a time, organized by label &/or sub-genre. many atlantic, columbia, prestige, riverside & (eventually) blue note titles. if this sounds like your thing add farmeralfalfa to your favorite seller list. this week's focus is hard bop & soul jazz including prestige, savoy & blue note with some additional associated titles plus a few impulse & ESP pieces that were omitted from the last auction.
