Description
This is the rare first-ever Boswell Sisters album, released in 1943, and featuring music all recorded in 1931. The tunes included are among their greatest ever recordings:
When I Take My Sugar to Tea/
Wha'd Ja Do To Me?
Roll On, Mississippi, Roll On/
Shout, Sister, Shout!
Shine on Harvest Moon/
Heebie Jeebies
River Stay 'Way From My Door/
It's the Girl
The musicians include both Dorseys, and Venuti & Lang. Absolutely great vocal jazz, great recordings, and great 78 sound. All four discs are in excellent condition, with only minor surface wear. They play pretty much flawlessly and beautifully. The sound is just incredible... so much clearer and more present and "3-dimensional" than any subsequent reissue on LP or hideous CD. Really this is the only way to listen to the Boswells. Wonderful. The brushed cover is also in quite nice condition, with a touch of shelfwear and a partly blackened spine. But the binding is perfect and all the record pockets secure. AND it comes with the super-rare booklet! A great copy.
