Description

An original 1st press of PET SOUNDS on UK Capitol from 1966. Matrix 1/1. Stampers 1G/1G.  Beautiful 1st mono pressing from 1966 - super audio. And if that weren't impressive enough this copy is from the 1st stamper employed by EMI in the UK. The 1G/1G stampers - and there ain't no going earlier than that! The vinyl comes housed in an original front laminated MONO cover. We also have an original Emitex inner sleeve too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. We will ship in a Nagaoka anti-static inner for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a few light marks per side, and a couple of very superficial trails - nothing heavy or nasty looking. One tiny mark does cause brief issue - see detail. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback WITH ONE DEVIATION. A super copy by any standard. If PS is one of your all time favourites - why would you want to risk anything other than the best and earliest copy you can get your hands on. Lovely clean mono feed as this album was intended for. Sounds - this delivers the absolute best all round rendition. And remember - this copy is from the very 1st stamper employed by EMI...and that's mighty impressive. All the tracks, no matter how fussy, are playing clean - even into the fussiest moments. The only one issue I could detect was in track 1 - 'Wouldn't It Be Nice'. There's a tiny mark about 30 seconds into the track which causes a brief [non-repeating] skip. In the 1st chorus "You know it's gonna make it...that much better" - the 2nd half of the line 'That much better' - is lost. A very brief issue and given the overall level of playback from a "1G" - very liveable. You just need to take that one issue on the chin. The remainder of the LP plays absolutely superb. Very little sign of background at all. I have certainly never witnessed a better sounding PS - consistently. Highly recommended. Very addictive.
Cover (Ex-) A nice clean front with just a couple of thumbnails. The rear is looking pretty dapper - having avoided the worst of the ageing process. Just a couple of minor ageing spot blemishes. Flipbacks are all intact and secure. Minimal edge wear an firm openings. Spin 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. Bag present. No splits.
