Description
THE BEATLES - 'BEATLES FOR SALE'
1964 UK 1st *STEREO* PRESSING LP
Without doubt, the best sounding of their early stereo LPs with that essential 'breath of life' missing from their other stereo mixes.
This NEAR MINT 1st UK STEREO pressing dates from initial release in December 1964 on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PCS 3058
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text & have 'The Parlophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.
A faint impression of a 'KT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.
Matrix numbers: YEX 142-1 & YEX 143-1
Stamper codes: 3/AM & 4/GO
Vinyl weight: 128g
Housed in an outer laminated, inner-flipback gatefold cover with and outlined front stereo indicator.
Complete with its 'Use Emitex..' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: NEAR MINT
An immaculate set with no more than two or three faint spindle trails to the side 2 centre hole only.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Pristine 'as new' playing surfaces which retain all of their deep-gloss shine and are apart from a single 1cm light mark on side 1 and a few barely visible inner-sleeve removal marks on side 2 unmarked in strong daylight. Even close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp fails to reveal anything more than a handful of wispy paper hairlines. This superb copy also lies 100% flat on the turntable when playing. Hard to find a nicer example.
Play: NEAR MINT
This spectacular sounding copy has been barely played and as a result sounds perfectly clean, warm and open throughout with no traces of any groove/play wear to any track. Both run-ins and all bands play entirely without interference, making this one of the best sounding copies you will ever hear.
Cover
EXCELLENT
A clean & glossy example of this fragile cover which retains a flat and uncreased front leaf with no wear to any of the delicate edges. The corners also are clean & unworn with just a tiny 1cm tear to the upper right corner of the rear panel. The rear panel itself is a clean & bright as the front with no ringwear or any other such flaws. The inside is clean & black where it should be with no writing, marks or blemishes. There is a little wear to the upper and lower parts of the central hinge, but nothing major. The spine's laminate is flaking a little, but the wording is intact and readable and all seams of the rear pocket are smooth, unstressed & unsplit.
Inner-sleeve
EXCELLENT +
Clean & crisp with some just a few minor storage wrinkles and no writing, tears or seam splits.
