READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP Help! in SHRINK with ERROR HYBRID Apple Labels, NM!

On very rare occasion, I have come across these hybrid labels where the Side 1 label has the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” at the bottom, and the Side 2 label has the 1969 to 1971 Capitol logo at the bottom.  Most seem to come out of Jacksonville, but I’ve seen a scarce few that came from the LA plant.  In either case, these errors are extremely hard to find.  This one’s NM and in the shrink.

A stunning and thoughtful Christmas gift.  If you think your Beatles collector has it all, this one will make them scream, “fa-la-la-la-laaa” at the cat, clear across the living room full-speed four times consecutively back and forth.  Now bring it right here.

Vinyl--- NM, both sides.  Easily.

Plates--- F19/ W2.  Machine-stamped letter “O” in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Jacksonville.

Cover--- NM.  Still in shrinkwrap!  That's not yellowing in the photo of the front cover, that's shadow. Entire cover is beautiful white. Bottom shrink has a breach about five inches long.  Slick has cracked in that area, but the bottom seam is not split.  I bought this copy still sealed, so I can attest that the gatefold has never been opened or exposed to the air.  Snow white cover, front and back are still brand new white!

Breathe Holes--- Two breathe holes on the front cover.  One is in the orange letter, “B” in “Beatles,” the second one is due south, below the “H” in “Help!”

Labels--- NM, both sides.  As soon as I saw that this copy was a hybrid, I filed it away, and to this day have never played it.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white, with the die-cut holes for the labels to show through.  Bottom seam has a center split about two inches long.  Replace it if you want, but it’s not necessary.

This Week’s Research Labels--- As a new feature to my auctions for labels collectors, I’m going to start a research project series for those who are interested.  This week’s pick is the 1975 Apple pressing of “The Beatles’ Story” with the “All Rights Reserved” disclaimer at the bottoms of the labels on two lines.  Believe it or not, copies pressed by Capitol with the concentric groove a quarter of an inch from the playhole are extremely rare.  By far, and I daresay about one in a few hundred copies have this concentric groove.  The rest have the concentric groove much closer to the outer edge of the labels, and they are pressed by the LA plant.  These scarcer copies are pressed by the Winchester plant.  See photos, and then see if you can locate one!

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
