Description

THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'

1969 UK ONE-EMI-BOX *MONO* LP

'Please, Please Me''Sgt. Peppers..' & 'Help!' were the only albums selling well enough in mono in mid-1969 to warrant release on the newly designed 'One-EMI box' Parlophone label that October. The Beatles' mono catalogue was then almost immediately deleted, making these three titles on this label design the hardest to find of all UK discs.

This extremely rare example was pressed in 1969 and is on the 'One-EMI-Box' silver & black Parlophone label: PMC 1202

Both labels carry the 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rim text & 'Made in Gt. Britain'.

Housed in its correct thin card, front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed, large mono logo cover.

Complete with its original red & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-2N

Stamper codes: 15/RLA & 6/RM

Disc weight: 146g

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: VERY GOOD +

Aside from a collection of spindle trails & the slight wear to the side 2 centre hole, there is little else to fault either side.

Visual: VERY GOOD

Both sides are clean, bright & glossy with inspection in strong daylight showing up some light, hairline scratches consistent with regular handling/play, but certainly nothing deep or 'feelable'. Its sparkling rainbow shine is retained beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp together with some harmless wispy paper-type marks, but no further significant blemishes.

Play: VERY GOOD

This copy has clearly received a frequent amount of play. There is a touch of playwear to some of the louder peaks but the sound quality is very respectable overall and without any major audible faults.

Cover

VERY GOOD -

Despite general handling & storagwear, this example is fully intact with no splits, tears, writing or any other major faults throughout.

Inner-sleeve

VERY GOOD
