Description

Greetings. This is the last item I am listing before June 21st when I will sell an original sealed Trip Thru Hell© album.

Listed here is an original Trip Thru Hell album. The record is in Mint condition. It probably has been played but it does not look like it. I can see no scratches or scuffs in the record. The cover is in very good condition and is signed by surviving members Jim Erwin, Doug Reynolds, Rick Johnson and myself.

Jim Erwin was the bass player for the C.A. Quintet© from the beginning and played the bass guitar on every studio recording we ever did. Jim was the foundation of the music and everything was built on his bass playing. Jim also had a wonderful voice and sang on many songs.

Doug Reynolds was the keyboard player for the C.A. Quintet the entire time with the exception of a period when he was drafted into the Marines. Doug also wrote and co-wrote a number of songs performed by the C.A. Quintet. He was a multi-talented musician with a wonderful high voice. One of my few regrets about the group is that we did not use Doug to sing the lead on more songs.

Rick Johnson played drums on most of the songs on the Trip Thru Hell album. Rick made a huge contribution to the C.A. Quintet during his stint with the group. He joined the group at just the right time to play on most of the songs on the album. In my opinion he was the only drummer we ever knew that could play the drum parts on some of the more complex songs like Cold Spider. Rick Johnson played on Colorado Mourning, Cold Spider,Sleepy Hollow Lane, Dr of Philosophy, I Shot the King and Smooth as Silk.

Rick Johnson joined and left the C.A. Quintet during the period when we were recording the album. While Rick Johnson was the main drummer on the album, when he left he was replaced by Rick Patron who was replaced by Donnie Chapin. Unfortunately Rick Patron is the only drummer listed on the album. I am not sure how it happened and I feel very badly about that.

I do not want to diminish my responsibility for the fact that Rick Johnson should have been listed on the album cover and wasn't. But the album cover design was something that for what-ever reason I paid little if any attention to. I was just focused on the music and I don't even recall seeing it until it was done. Rod Eaton did the album design and artwork. But, I can not remember who decided or how things ended up being listed on the back cover. I’m sure if I did see it, I had no idea at the time of the importance of seeing that all of those who contributed got credit for what they did. I have spent the last 40 years through interviews etc. trying to correct the situation. This album simply could not have been made without Rick Johnson's contribution.

Ok, so this is the last reminder that on June 21st 2006, the 39th anniversary of our first recording contract and the 40th anniversary of the year we became the C.A. Quintet, I will sell a sealed album that I set aside in 1968 and obviously is in new condition. It is one of three sealed Trip Thru Hell albums in existence

I intend to donate the proceeds from this project to a non-profit organization.

On this listing all bidders must have a feedback score of 5 or more. Also I will be out of town when this starts and unable to answer questions until June 16th

If you are the winning bidder and wish for me to personalize and/or authenticate the item, I will.

If you would like more information or wish to communicate with the members of the band, you can also go to our web-site caquintet.com

I want to thank all of you that have kept the music alive for all these years!

OK, I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS WHILE I WAS FISHING... I HAVE DECIDED TO LOWER THE RESERVE PRICE ( TO GET RID OF IT) THE NEXT BID WILL MAKE IT... I ONLY PUT IT IN THERE AS IT IS A HISTORICAL NUMBER IN RELATION TO THIS ALBUM AND I THOUGHT SOMEONE WOULD FIGURE IT OUT.... BUT THIS HAS NEVER BEEN ABOUT THE MONEY ANYWAY ... THE BIDDING PROBABLY WOULD HAVE GONE PAST THE RESERVE PRICE ANYWAY SOON ... SO NO NEED TO WONDER ANYMORE... THE RESERVE IS GONE... I TRUELY WANT SOMEONE TO HAVE THIS ALBUM .. GOOD LUCK...
