Description

An original 1st press of Ziggy Stardust on UK RCA from summer 1972. Matrix 1E/2E - very 1st cut. The labels are consistent with 1st issue as they still retain the 'Titanic' publishing credits which were phased out immediately after the initial chart success in favour of 'Mainman'. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Robert Stace cover. Please note that 1st issue covers, like this one, do not make reference to 'Mainman' on the rear. Also included is the original lyric inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In great condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side, and a few bag-rash superficial marks - nothing that features in the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with a couple of very slight deviations. Intros and inbetweens are practically silent and the audio comes across with superb clarity. These early RCA copies are an absolute treat to behold and when you find a well preserved copy the audio is absolutely breathtaking! Interference is pretty much non-existent. All we could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. The deviation is a  couple of very light ticks in 'Moonage' and a couple more in the opening seconds of 'Ziggy' - very brief and over in a flash! Even those slow build moments at the start of the songs play very clean. In reality, very little to complain about at all.. a barnstorming rendition.
Cover (Vg+) These covers often surface looking quite knackered, but this copy has been looked after carefully by its owner. Nice clean front with only light ring wear - which is fairly typical. The rear looks to be in similar condition with only very light handling and barely a crease. Edge wear is pretty light for this title. All text on the spine is still legible despite slight creasing - which is unusual. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Barely any ageing. One 2 inch side seam split.
