HERB JEFFRIES/EDEN AHBEZ the singing prophet on OLYMPIC records (private press). Strange, moving, pre-"eden's island" rarity custom pressed in LA. Ahbez wrote entire side 1 suite and couple tunes on flip. He doesn't perform on the album but this is the 1st/only issue of his complete (very) early hippie symphonic suite: "the legend of nature boy", complete with score, songs and spoken segments. He shopped this around for years and no one bit until Nat king Cole heard "nature boy" and cut it as a single, his first big hit as a vocalist. After this, Ahbez and Jeffries custom pressed this LP (the public wasn't quite ready for this new age hippie stuff). Jeffries sings and narrates the album which is fused with his own spiritual suite: "echoes of eternity". the two suites are split between S1 and S2 and feature light ocean effects. exotica/psych fans receptive to the old world sound cherish this one. And ahbez collectors HAVE to have this one. Thanks to Will at showandtell dot com, from whom I copped most of the description above.
Condition: Jacket show minor rubbing wear at the edges, but no splits. Vinyl is glossy with light scratches. The Ahbez side played with some very faint background crackle that I had to strain to hear, 6 or 7 medium clicks and one louder pop. I suspect the other side will be similar, but I will check it out in the next day or so.
