Note - It turns out that RCA didn't take good care of all the Elvis master session tapes turned over to them when they bought Elvis's contract from Sun. In some cases they didn't even get a master tape from SUN because it had been recorded over or lost by Sam Phillips. In other cases, RCA lost or modified the ones they had, so to re-issue some of the the Sun singles on LP, they had to resort to the next best thing which were pristine 78 rpm pressings. These were superior to the SUN 45's because of the higher speed. Even recently, in the quest to re-issue the very best original un-doctored Sun Elvis recordings, RCA has had to resort to some 78's!
In the case of "I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine", RCA didn't initially get a master tape from Sun so the early RCA re-issues were mastered from 78s. Years later, the master tape was accidentally found by Shelby Singleton near the end of a tape labeled for another artist. The birth of Rock 'N' Roll has not been in good hands.
