ELVIS PRESLEY Rare 1956 Triple Gatefold Promo SPD-23 3 Record Set Excellent.
History of this extraordinary find: 7X7" Cardboard Triple Gatefold cover contains three record 45 RPM set of RCA VICTOR label. In 1956, RCA marketed two different models of an Elvis Presley Victrola Record Player. Buyers of the $32.95 model were given the EP SPD-22, while the bonus for buyers of the higher priced $47.95 model were given the even more rare and desirable EP SPD-23. In other words, this cover and discs were only given away when you bought the highest end victrola player for what was then a lot of money, because only a handful of people could afford the high end victrola. In time, it made this one of the rarest Elvis records/cover in existence on any label.
The cover is very nice. Spine is 100% intact, no splits or wear on spine. Inside tri-folder is clean.
COVER IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, THOUGH BACK OF THE COVER SHOWS POSSIBLE GLUE STAIN COMING THROUGH FROM AGE. RECORDS LOOK TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. NO RECORD SLEEVES.
OVERALL THIS IS ONE OF THE NICEST COVERS OUT THERE. THESE DO NOT COME UP VERY OFTEN BECAUSE THEY ARE QUITE SIMPLY ONE OF THE RAREST AND MOST SOUGHT AFTER ELVIS RECORDS OUT THERE.
