You are bidding on a VERY RARE COPY of Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True original UK issue. This has the original LAMINATED SLEEVE WITH YELLOW REAR, PLUS AN "UNUSED" 2nd 'HELP US HYPE ELVIS' leaflet. The laminated sleeve would have been quite a limited run and quickly gave way to the non-laminated versions.
The 'HYPE' leaflet was usually stuck to the front of the sleeve when a free copy of the album was sent out to a person who had been nominated by their friend who would have posted off to Stiff Records a 1st Hype leaflet with their nominee named on it. The nominee's name was then usually written in the space provided on this 2nd 'Hype' leaflet . This copy of the album has an unused leaflet and it is not stuck to the front of the sleeve and has remained in excellent condition as a result of this as with most of those stuck to the front having taken a battering over the years, if not ripped off and completely destroyed altogether. It is thought that the first 1000 copies of the album had the 1st 'Hype' leaflet but just how many were sent back to Stiff Records with a nomination on is impossible to know. Likewise, it is impossible to know how many albums were sent out by Stiff with this 2nd 'Hype' leaflet. Probably safe to assume that only a fraction of those actually sent out have survived though.
The sleeve is in a very strong VG+ to Ex condition with only a couple of very minor creases and a couple of age spots. As with most aged, laminated sleeves, the lamination has shrunk a little on the rear, left side. (Please see photos) The record is in a strong VG+ condition with minor paper marks from being taken out and put in the original paper sleeve. The Inner sleeve is the original black paper one but I always take the records out of the sleeves and place them in an anti-static cover and keep them outside of the main sleeve to reduce the risk of ring wear and then the whole thing is kept in a protective poly outer sleeve which how you will receive it.
