Description
This is an auction for an ORIGINAL copy of the 1956 release of Hound Dog / Don't Be Cruel released in the USA.
The record itself (47-6604 )is in VERY GOOD+ condition and retains a lot of it's natural sheen .
There are a few light marks/scratches(nothing too deep or drastic).
The labels are CRISP, CLEAN and have NO WRITING!!!
This is the RARE issue WITHOUT THE HORIZONTAL LINE.
The picture sleeve is much sought after and was listed in a U.S guide book back in 2008 as $75 in the condition it is in now(which i would say is VERY GOOD+ )for the sleeve alone!!!
This was the 2nd and RARER picture sleeve issued for an Elvis release and has 2 GREAT photos (see photos)
THIS IS THE RELEASE WITH DON'T BE CRUEL ON TOP (rather than the 1st issue with Hound Dog on top)
The black and white sleeve has NO SEAM SPLITS , however the original shop stamp price has been scrubbed out with pen, some of the top right corner missing from where a label has been removed,a rub mark under the words Hound Dog and a couple of small staple holes.(see photos)
Overall this was valued at about $95(£62) back in 2008 , so i would guess this would have to be at least £65.
I will start this at way under half of that!!
This, as with ALL of my picture sleeve releases comes housed in a separate paper sleeve containing the record and a protective poly sleeve to help prevent ny further future wear!!
With a LOW START and NO RESERVE you might just get a genuine bargain.
