Description
This is an auction for an ORIGINAL copy of the 1956 release of Hound Dog / Don't Be Cruel released in the USA.
The record itself (47-6604 )is in VERY GOOD condition and retains some of it's natural sheen .
There are quite a few visible marks/scratches(nothing too deep).
The labels have NO WRITING , There is a small numbered sticker on the Don't Be Cruel side.(see photos)
This is the RARE issue WITHOUT THE HORIZONTAL LINE. (you could say that this is the equivilant of the U.K HMV Silver lettering release)
The picture sleeve is much sought after and was listed in a U.S guide book back in 2008 as $60 in the condition it is in now(which i would say is in EXCELLENT - / VERY GOOD+ )for the sleeve alone!!!
This was the 1st issued picture sleeve issued for an Elvis release and has 2 GREAT photos (see photos)
THIS IS THE RELEASE WITH HOUND DOG ON TOP (rather than the 2nd issued with Don't Be Cruel on top)
The black and white sleeve is in nice condition for the age(see photos)
There are NO SPLITS, RIPS, TEARS or WRITING!
The only thing that stops this from grading higher is some age discolouration / browning. (see photos)
That all said this will be an affordbale collection filler until that mint $130 record and sleeve come along!!!
Overall this was valued at about $75(£50) back in 2008 , so i would guess this would have to be at least £52.
I will start this at way under half of that!!
This, as with ALL of my picture sleeve releases comes housed in a separate paper sleeve containing the record and a protective poly sleeve to help prevent ny further future wear!!
With a LOW START and NO RESERVE you might just get a genuine bargain.
