The Birth of Country Recording is an historic array of country music recordings which was significantly, the birth of commercial country music. Some recordings are taken from an old scratchy 45, but still audible. Other music is nice and clear. The sound is good! Listening to this takes one back to another world of music! The set comes with an 8-page LP size booklet that provides interesting facts and large photos of the performers. The two albums are beautiful burgundy with a blue, quality-made box cover.

Ballads
A popular oldie, Vernon Dalhart sings the plaintive ballad "The Priso ner's Song" and another ballad, "The Wreck on the Southern Old '97" by Henry Whittier; "The Titanic" by Ernest Pop Stoneman;

"Down in the Willow Garden" by Charlie Monroe and His Kentucky Pardners tells the story of a murder. Charlie is the brother of Bill Monroe. This song was also recorded by The Everly Brothers in their memorable CD titled Songs Our Daddy Taught Us; it includes a beautiful harmonizing set of historic ballads!

Recorded in 1925, "Don't Let Your Deal Go Down Blues" by Charlie Poole and the North Carolina Ramblers.
