This is a one of a kind studio acetate cut direct from a master and likely never heard by the public before. Several one of a kind Elvis Presley takes on his iconic song - Almost In Love - for the film Live A Little, Love A Little.

I am a serious collector in Los Angeles selling select items from my collection. This is truly one of my most prized rare musical artifacts. We hope it goes to someone who will appreciate it as much as we have.

The record is very clean with only one small chip on side 2 on the outer most part of the lacquer. The disc is in excellent condition with full luster and shine.

On side one, you can hear Elvis snapping and counting down and then with several taps on the guitar, he launches into the orchestral open of this iconic song. At the end of this take, you can hear Elvis state “That’s a ten. Take Ten.” None of these elements were ever used in any of the public recordings. On side 2 you’ll hear an even different take with variances in both phrasing and orchestral nuances.

Included with your purchase are the full length digital transfers of each side (both unique takes of the song) by legendary sound engineer, producer, musician and author Brian Kehew. Brian has collaborated with Abbey Road Studios on multiple Beatles projects. He has also worked with countless iconic musicians including The Who. He literally wrote the book “Recording The Beatles;” the definitive book charting the studio equipment and techniques used to create The Beatles’ classic albums. We will provide via a USB memory stick with the record.

Historical Context & Session Insight:

The recordings for the film Live a Little, Love a Little took place at Western Recorders in Hollywood.

Instrumental Track: Recorded March 7, 1968.

Vocal Overdub: Elvis recorded his vocals on March 11, 1968.

Significance of April 5 Date: This acetate was cut approximately three weeks after the recording session. This suggests it was a Reference Lacquer created specifically for MGM film editors or Director Norman Taurog to sync the music with the "Beach Scene" in the movie.

Acetates are "one-of-a-kind" or "few-of-a-kind" objects. Unlike mass-produced vinyl, these were cut directly from the master tape in the studio. Because this is an MGM production acetate (rather than an RCA commercial one), it is classified as a "Studio Tool." These were rarely intended to leave the studio, making their survival highly prized.
