Description

Absolutely gorgeous and rare 1957 second pressing copy of Horace Silver's 6 Pieces of Silver LP on Blue Note 1539. An all-time classic featuring Hank Mobley and Donald Byrd. This is, as I say, the rare 1957 second pressing with the W. 63rd address but no "Inc." after Blue Note Records, and no registered trademark symbol. This copy is simply lovely. The disc has maybe a few very slight superficial sleeve scuffs but barely. Plays absolutely flawlessly and just beautifully. I have never heard a better sounding copy. The later represses sound so flat compared to these original copies. And this is of course a Rudy Van Gelder stamped copy with the trademark ear logo in the runoff. The cover is also in exceptional condition, with NO seam splits and barely any real issues except general age and light shelfwear. There is a bit of light edge fraying at the top and bottom, and much less on the spine, and a little corner rubbing, mainly at the lower right. This is truly a top early copy, in unusually lovely shape. Hard to beat.
