Description

An original 1972 reissue of Zep IV on the UK Atlantic label. This label iteration is consistent with 1972 - there's no perimeter text in the upper half of the label. Matrix A2/B2. Etching 'Allen'. There's no sign of the Warner logo either. This is quite an early copy - Zep IV was released October 1971 and this copy comes only one year after those original masters - Nice! Note that the track error 'Misty Mountain Top' - is still exhibiting. Also, worth noting that this is a nice heavier pressing - they weren't all pressed at this weight. A really clean copy from '72 is more than capable of delivering a super rendition of this Zep classic...YOU will love IT! The vinyl comes housed in an original lyric inner sleeve with original gatefold cover. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Lovely clean audio which does a terrific job of delivering this Zep classic with maximum clarity. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent. Both quiet slow build passages and intricate complex moments are equally well conveyed. Expect nothing more than a couple of isolated crackles in a couple of moments per side. Those low-key tracks like Stairway, California, Evermore - the test tracks - will sort out a good copy from a properly clean high quality one. This copy absolutely nails the acoustic tracks with a perfectly quiet background. Just think...pretty much perfectly clean...less than ONE year from the original master of STAIRWAY...You know this baby is going to sound terrific! It delivers in all the right areas...crank up to maximum and enjoy! Don't miss the signature on the side 1 label.
Cover (Ex-) A really nice looking original cover. Please note there's a scratch mark over on the left side of the front. Thankfully, due to the cover design, this doesn't stand out at all really. The rear is looking good too with just a linear mark along the top edge and lesser mark at the opening edge. The interior looks fantastic - no problems at all. Edge wear is light and the openings are lovely and sharp. Spine is in excellent order with little wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A lovely original example.
Inner (Ex+) Perfect in every way. No creasing, no ageing, no writing. No splits and corner perfectly square.
