 MANTECA:

The legendary Afro-Cuban master percussionist Lázaro Plá, better known as "Manteca", Lazaro (R.I.P), known as "Manteca" to all the Cubans, was one of the best bongoseros from Cuba. His background goes back to the early days when he was the bongo player for the great Cuban pianist and composer Ernesto Lecuona and the international famous Lecuona Cuban Boys (Candido also performed in this great orchestra!). This LP has a great variety of rhythms with Carlos (patato) Valdes on congas and Nelson (El Flaco) Pardon on timbales both great Cuban percussionists.

Two version exists of this rare recording  original press, one on GRC/JRC (US pressing) and one on the Desca label.

  MINT: Unplayed, still sealed.   M- (NM) Played vinyl but has no marks and plays with very mimimal or no surface noise.   VG++ (Excellent): Played vinyl has one or two light marks and plays with none or very minimal surface noise.   VG+: Played vinyl has more than a few marks and plays with some light surface noise but no skips. Strong sound!.   VG: Well played vinyl has a lot of surface marks but no deep scratches, vinyl plays with surface noise but sound quality is still good. No Skips. Taken from Popsike.com (web that shows records that sold for big money on Ebay): So the GRC yellow label was the 1st pressing, not the black label, not the Desca pressing!!!!
