Very RARE UK first pressing of the Martha Velez solo debut "Fiends And Angels", on London Records (March 1969).
Curated and produced by Mike Vernon of Blue Horizon label fame, "Fiends And Angels" was Martha Velez`s first solo outing. Bringing together only the finest to back the formidable US singer, the list of musicians featured on "Fiends And Angels" reads like a veritable who`s-who of the UK blues-rock scene: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Mitch Mitchell, Paul Kossoff, Stan Webb, Brian Auger, Christine McVie...to name but a few!
As unlikely as it may seem, due to the musical prowess of all involved, as well as the production skills of Mike Vernon, the end result does indeed sound even better than the sum of its parts! Highly recommended.
GRADING:
EX(+) COVER. Front-laminated sleeve with light general wear. Please see the photos for details.
- Faint record imprint on front sleeve, even fainter on the rear.
- A few creases, mainly along the bottom edge.
- A bit of laminate lift to the spine.
- A number of small creases to the spine, front and back.
- Spine remains uncrushed, with fully legible writing.
- Also includes the custom-printed Decca/London Records inner sleeve in EX++ condition.
EX++ RECORD with light general hairlining, predominantly from sleeve removal.
- Near-faultless audio delivery throughout: Very hard to find in such a nice condition.
- Minimal background crackle between some tracks, as well as in quiet passages.
- Violet first pressing London Records labels with a few spindle lines on each side.
- The matrix stamps in the run-out grooves read "ACSZ-3192-2L", respectively "ACSZ-3193-1L", clearly denoting an early, if not first UK pressing.
- The record alone weighs in at a rock-solid 140 grams.
- This copy of "Fiends And Angels" is fully certified to be an early if not first UK pressing, as released in March 1969.
