Description
For Jon Bon Jovi's lead guitarist, Richie Sambora -- it all started here!
Up for auction is a rare, private/self-released 6-Song 12" lp from a duo called Message.
Lp is titled "Lessons" and was put out by Dream Disc of Woodbridge, NJ as DF-1.
Message hailed from the suburbs of Northern New Jersey (Woodbridge) and was the collaboration between a popular local New Jersey rock scenester named Dean Fasano and a little known guitarist named Rich Sambora. The two had been playing music together since Sambora was in high school in the late 1970s--and started Message in 1980.
According to a now-defunct website -- http://maggiepowell.net , which has a bio on Dean Fasano; they were offered money by a financier to record and release a record.
Fasano organized some hired hands to help round out the sound of the duo--one of whom was Bruce Foster, who played on the first KISS Album as well as bassist Andy Such, who was also in Bon Jovi, and stayed with the band for 10 years as a bassist! One could say this is/was Bon Jovi, minus Jon (of course!)
The sound is circa 1980 styled hard rock with some prog touches and influence from Led Zeppelin and 70s rock.
This was also produced by a then little-known producer named Andy Wallace--who made it big in the mid-80s with the Run-DMC/Aerosmith collaboration. Wallace has won Grammy's for his production work with large scale rock, alternative, metal and punk acts (as varied as Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Nirvana, Sheryl Crow and Bad Religion)
Dean Fasano even to this day, still works with Sambora --having appeared on his solo record.
This lp is in NEAR MINT- condition.
Album cover and inserts are also in WELL-PRESERVED, NICE Condition, with just some light creases and shelf wear along the edges.
