Description
For sale by no-reserve auction is a first pressing from 1973 of the classic PINK FLOYD album 'THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON'. This is one of the very first pressings with the solid blue triangle with silver lettering, A2/B2 matrices in the run-out grooves and 'The Gramophone Co.' text starting at 10 o'clock on the labels. However, as you can see from the photos, the outer sleeve shows significant general wear and there is a little bit of damage on the sleeve openings. Please study the photos carefully to see the condition for yourself. The original inner sleeve is missing and there are no stickers or posters. The labels have many 'spindle trails'. Unfortunately, the poor state of the sleeve is reflected in the state of the vinyl which, at best, could only be described as 'fair' (or maybe even 'poor') condition. Both sides have numerous surface marks but they both play through without any 'jumps' or sticking. Side 1 is the worst side. It has a lot of 'crackle' and some significant scratches which are particularly audible at the end of 'Breathe, during 'On The Run' and at the start of 'Time'. Side 2 is better but there seems to be some sort of 'gunk' at the very start of 'Money'. Once you are past that though the rest of side 2 isn't too bad apart from 'crackle' and the occasional 'pops'. So, this is not a pristine, archive example by any stretch of the imagination. But if you need to fill that solid blue triangle-shaped hole in your Pink Floyd collection then this would do the job until you found a better copy. And with a good clean maybe some of the crackle and other surface noise might be removed or, at least, lessened. Might be worth taking a chance ? The record will be wrapped in bubblewrap before posting to ensure that it does not get damaged on its journey. I will dispatch it in a proper record mailer and will post within one working day of purchase by Second Class post so that it gets on its way to you as soon as possible.
