Original very early 1st US pressing of Paul McCartney & Wings’ album “Band On The Run” released by Capitol Records on May 12, 1973. We’ve also included into this listing a promotional “Not For Sale” 7” 45 RPM “Band On The Run” single and quite rare original “Jet” sheet music. Incredibly rare factory sealed copy with two original hype stickers affixed to the shrink wrap, one of which is considered to be the identifier of the very early 1st pressing. Black / green sticker with an arrow image directed at the band informs that the two hit singles, “Jet” and “Helen Wheels”, are included into this album. The currently listed 1st pressing issue includes an original large 20” x 27” color poster with the “polaroid snapshots” of the band as well as a custom hard cardboard inner sleeve with the lyrics to the album’s songs on one side and a black and white photo from the band’s Nigerian excursion on the other. Original promotional copy of the “Band On The Run” single with the catalog P-1873 pressed at the Capitol Records plant in Los Angeles and containing the “*” asterisk factory identifier. The full matrix numbers are as follows: Side 1 – PRO-6825-F-1 1 * MASTERED BY CAPITOL Why; Side 2 – S-45-48188-F-1 1 MASTERED BY CAPITOL Why. This promo copy comes with the original Apple Records black die-cut sleeve. Original sheet music with the lyrics and notes of the “Jet” single published by Charles Hansen Educational Music & Books.

The factory sealed album is in great Mint Minus condition. The shrink wrap doesn’t have any splits, tears or missing pieces and remains fully intact containing the original breathe holes. The front cover has a few very light factory creases along the spine, which are commonly found on the covers of this issue, apparently due to the peculiarities of its manufacturing process. We grade the promotional 45 RPM record of the “Band On The Run” single visually as Very Good. The vinyl has some surface hairlines and marks as well as scuffs from the original Apple Records sleeve which is in Excellent condition without having any splits and tears, just some very light shelf wear along the edges. The labels are graded as Very Good Plus for Side 1 and Excellent Plus for Side 2. The Side 1 label has some marker writing and a factory defect in the form of an uneven surface as seen on the photos. The Side 2 label is very clean, scuff- and wear-free, only having some very light spindle marks that can be seen under a strong light. The vinyl sounds great only having some very light occasional static which most likely will go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. The original “Jet” sheet music is in great vintage condition with all of the pages fully intact and not having any splits or tears, just some very light age shelf wear along the edges of the front cover.
