Sticky Fingers is the ninth studio album by The Rolling Stones, released in April 1971. It was the band's first album of the 1970s and its first release on the band's newly-formed label, Rolling Stones Records, after having been contracted since 1963 with Decca Records in the UK and London Records in the US. It is also Mick Taylor's first full-length appearance on a Rolling Stones album, and the first not to feature any contributions from founding guitarist Brian Jones. 

With the end of their Decca / London association at hand, The Rolling Stones would finally be free to release their albums (cover art and all) as they pleased. 

The artwork for Sticky Fingers — which, on the original vinyl release, featured a working zipper that opened to reveal a man in cotton briefs - rubber stamped "THIS PHOTOGRAPH MAY NOT BE-ETC." — was conceived by American pop artist Andy Warhol. After retailers complained that the zipper was causing damage to the vinyl (from stacked shipments of the record), the zipper was "unzipped" slightly to the middle of the record, where damage would be minimised. The album features the first usage of the "Tongue and Lip Design" designed by John Pasche.

THE RECORD - VISUAL GRADING -  EXCELLENT

ALBUM PLAYED FOR AUDIO GRADING:

Yes – brilliant! - EXCELLENT sound quality throughout!

This great record plays up to the visual grading and beyond. Strong, undistorted sound free of loud pops or clicks. There is light background static and some surface noise in places, but nothing continuous. A very enjoyable listen of this original Stones giant!

Super strong sound with minimal distractions, the album plays right through with absolutely NO sticks, jumps or repeating unwanted noises what so ever. 

The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, particularly on the percussion instruments, and vocals which come through with tremendous power. As is the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. 

A great all round example of this great  Stones  vinyl, and a staggering first stereo mix, unlike the re-issues that lack the impact and the clarity of sound. 

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:

LABELS - EXCELLENT PLUS

Splendid deeply coloured attractive examples.  No wear around the hole areas, with all ink uneroded and fully intact, with no real spindle traces to be seen. One tiny scratch only by the cat. no. (as seen below) This still fits very tightly around the record spindle.

COVER -  EXCELLENT PLUS

Comes with original ANDY WARHOL sleeve, on the whole in EXCELLENT PLUS condition.

This is a stunning complete example of the brilliant Sticky Fingers cover, designed by Art Star Andy Warhol. Being thick matt unlaminated card with the famous belt buckle design, these covers rarely fared well, usually having heavy ring wear and tears, with the belt buckle being ripped off and a lot of yellowing to the background. Not this one! It has no tears or splits, again very hard to find. 

It has virtually NO rubbing to the edges or on the spine! The spine even has clearly defined 'pinched' ends, clearly separated by the makers marks. Unbelievable and impossibly rare like this!

The buckle is fully intact, and un worn, and the top edge is square and un frayed, almost un heard of with these covers. The background colour is not yellowed. The only slight imperfections are the usual zip marks in the form of a few indentations on the back (as seen in the images below, Sticky covers were stacked together on the shops so the rear covers always  have the mark of the cover that was behind it)  and a light scuff on the bottom right corner of the front. 

A wonderful original first press example and extremely rare in this condition.

THE INNER

Comes with Original UK "British Patent", MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN Inner sleeve, in EXCELLENT CONDITION. No tears, splits or stains. The vinyl will of course come in a replacement plain white inner to protect the original.

The Record comes with the Original insert poster in Nr MINT condition. no rips, tears, pin holes or blue tac marks. 

This is the original on medium weight card, not paper, with the picture of The Stones on one side, and the tongue logo and text on the other.

CLASSIC UK R&B / ROCK album by THE ROLLING STONES

RARITY

It is getting harder and harder to find good examples of early UK pressings of STICKY FINGERS, and very hard if not almost impossible examples that are complete and intact with all the Original parts. 

What is certain, an early copy will blow away the later pressings that followed from 1971. The cover is almost impossible to find without serious wear and a torn buckle, even modestly worn examples are scarce! This is a great all round piece. Superb!!

This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and I advise a light clean should be given between plays for optimal performance.

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.

V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.
