Description

An original 1968 UNBOXED DECCA STEREO. THAT's 2 YEARS after 1st issue. Matrix 5/5. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover to the period [i.e. mid sixties] with pinched spine. PLEASE NOTE - the cover is MONO...so there has been a switch somewhere along the line. But it's all genuine 100% sixties. For those who are into label trivia...the side 1 label is actually the very 1st stereo label from 1966! The side 2 label is a later design. How has this happened? I expect in '68 the labelers have spotted a spare batch of old labels and decided to use them up.  If audio is super critical to you...well worth reading on...>>
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In super condition and has only seen slight use. There's a couple of slight marks early in track 1 and one does just about sound. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an at least EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of deviations per side. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and clean and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Very little sign of background even into the quieter moments. Lots of detailed and delicate percussion and intricate acoustic guitar on this LP...a 50/50 copy will just not cut it. It needs to be REALLY clean. You almost never hear LADY JANE  clean...but wowzer...this copy manages it with just a couple of miniscule ticks! The only noticeable issue is caused by the mark at the outset of track 1. Amongst the guitar picks you get two clicks... So, not a big problem. One isolated tick as 'OOT' rolls in [hardly worth mentioning]. Overall highly accomplished and you are not going to be finder better from the sixties any time soon. I cannot recommend the audio HIGHLY enough!
Cover (Vg/Vg+) Very nice clean flat front without the usual creasing laminate lift. The only issue is some tanning/ageing to the rear. Not bad and difficult to avoid entirely. Slight sticker removal mark/tear top right on rear. Not much sign of edge wear and firm openings. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Spine is 95% intact.
