Description

Hello and welcome to this auction for a 'Beatles - Sgt Pepper 12" 1969 ULTRA RARE STEREO TRANSITIONAL CROSSOVER original EMI/Parlophone LP vinyl press' in overall EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ condition!
This particular copy of SGT PEPPER is VERY RARE because on Side 1 it features the 1969 '1 EMI box' label and on Side 2 it features the early 70s '2 EMI box' label! It is a transitional copy from 1969/1970. The very low stamper on Side 2 suggests that this was one of the earliest crossover copies!

VINYL:-
Visual:

  • Side 1 - barely any marks! One very light feelable scratch but only small, not deep and doesn't get in the way! Rated as EXCELLENT! Label is EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+!
  • Side 2 - a few more hairlines and marks than Side 1 but nothing deep or feelable. Rated as EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+! Label is EXCELLENT!

Audio:
  • In my eyes, the audio is EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+! I have play tested it all the way through and can confirm that there are NO SKIPS, NO JUMPS and NO STICKS on my system! Absolute minimal background crackle present - barely audible! Simply cannot fault it! Very loud and crisp with lots of clarity! A superb stereo mix on both sides with fantastic sound! Original tonality is present and there are no major faults! Lies very flat and plays very well!

Original unused cardboard cutout is in VERY GOOD+/EXCELLENT- condition with a small crease to the bottom left.

The original EMI advertising inner sleeve is in VERY GOOD+/EXCELLENT- condition with one very small split to one side - no bigger than an inch. Does not affect how the record is housed!
Original stereo PATENTS PENDING flipback sleeve is in EXCELLENT- condition. A very nice clean sleeve with a couple of creases, particularly the bottom left of the front of the sleeve. Rear of the sleeve has some marks towards the top and near the very bottom but I'm sure they could easily be cleaned off - I haven't had the time and I don't think it affects it that much. Some light creasing elsewhere. Spine is 100% readable with a few creases but still creaks upon opening and closing.
Overall, a VERY RARE label crossover variation that is very clean with a nice clean sleeve!

Catalogue number - PCS 7027 Number of tracks - 13 Released - 1969/1970 (original release is 1967) Matrix numbers - YEX 637-1    (mother stampers: 2AGO)   YEX  638-2    (mother stampers: 1M (could be a H))
VERY EARLY MOTHER STAMPER ON SIDE 2!!!

As with all the vintage records I sell, I advise a deep clean to enhance the sound quality of the record. Overall, a fantastic RARE classic Beatles record that sounds GREAT!!
Don't miss YOUR chance to own a classic 'The Beatles - Sgt Pepper' RARE TRANSITIONAL STEREO ONE BOX LP for a GREAT price! A TRUE RARITY THAT RARELY SHOWS UP!!
