Here is my grandfather's original pressing of The Astaire Story, first released in 1952 to a limited edition of 1384. This is hand numbered and signed by Fred Astaire, #337. The outer hardcover book has some light spots here and there (see photos) but in very good condition otherwise and has retained most of it's beautiful red color. The exception to this is on the spine where it's a bit faded. On the inside, as you can see, the binding has come apart from where it meets the spine but according a jazz record expert I consulted, this is a common problem found with just about all copies. The records themselves are blue and have been listened to over the years, showing some signs of use. There are some marks and I cannot comment on how well they play through since these have literally sat on a shelf at my parents house for the last 40+ years. The best I can tell you is I would grade them somewhere between good and very good but may experience some skipping. By no means are they in bad condition though. The book inside is in excellent condition without rips, tears or stains. Indeed this does include the gorgeous drawings (see photos) that are often lost with these box sets. They are in mint condition and appear to have never been displayed before, let alone taken out. Gorgeous!
