Description

An original 4th press of PPM in Mono from summer 1963. Matrix 1N/1N. Please note the labels DO NOT mention 'sold in the UK' - this dates the copy relatively early and to summer 1963. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original E J Day cover with flipbacks [as all the early copies are found in]. We also have an original Emitex inner sleeve. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete. We will ship in an anti-static inner for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In marvellous condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - absolutely nothing vaguely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are beautifully quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. These early mono copies are an absolute revelation for audio - providing you can find a lightly used copy. And this copy is acing it in all areas. Lovely and clean signalled that early mono cut is coming through bold as brass. Someone's been really careful with it. You can hear the background drum rolls in 'Honey' really clearly.  I'm struggling to make out any background even into the quieter moments on side 2. A couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. Highly impressive given the vintage. Absolutely lovin' it. Please note the side 1 label has the original owners name stickered to it. Don't go thinking this is removable - it isn't! It was papery so we have carefully inked it in so that it just blends in a bit better - whilst still being able to read 'Parlophone' in full.
Cover (Ex-) In very respectable condition considering what so many original examples can look like by this point in time. A clean and flat front which seems relatively unaged - and a couple of minor surface level creases. The rear can often suffer quite a bit, but this example seems to have avoided most of the ageing process. Just lightest evidence of handling evidence in the odd spot and a name written at the to. Flipbacks are all intact and secure. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture. A very fine original examples.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. Bag present. No splits.
