Description

An original 2nd MONO press of RS on UK Parlophone from Xmas1965. Matrix 4/4. Raised ring in the centre is making me think this might actually be a contract copy. And the weight is in at 160grams which is seriously heavy for a RS copy. Might be by PYE/  judging by the stampers - I'm not 100% sure, but it feels and looks different. A really well preserved original - not abused like so many other copies. The vinyl comes housed in an original mono cover. There's also the original Emitex inner too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. I'm not usually all that enamoured with the 2nd issue copies [4/4] - but I can't really fault this copy. It's a great little player and audio quality is really impressive.
Vinyl (Ex) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of lightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome though. For the vintage it looks extremely good. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation per side. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Given the vintage - very impressive. I'm just getting clean mono feed - and you can hear all the detail well down into the mix. Even the quieter tracks like WOOD, GIRL, LIFE & NM play well above what usually surfaces. No kidding - these tracks sound A-Mazing... To be frank - this is about as good as you can usually find it. At worst one isolated tick per side - i.e. hardly anything!. Even Michelle plays with just the occasional light crackle here and there. This track is nigh on impossible to find clean so just hitting this level is quite a surprise.. Overall a really super rendition and much better than what typically surfaces. Pretty much unbeatable from an audio perspective.
Cover (Vg+) Difficult to find in really great condition - but this example is a cut above the average copy. Nice clean front without much creasing at all. The rear has avoided the worst of the usual fading and looks tidy. Flipbacks are well preserved with some ageing evident. There's little edge wear. The spine is 95% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg) Some ageing , and no splits.
