The Beatles - White Album, No.0359423
Released on Apple Records PCS 7067 (Matrix YEX 709-1 & 710-1) + 7068 (Matrix YEX 711-1 & 712-1) Stereo November, 1968. Matrix #s indicate 1st batch of pressings.
All items included are the genuine originals from the release in 1968:
2 x 12" Vinyl - Labels have the outer and inner Apple Records motif with no mention of EMI anywhere. Original 'heavy vinyl'.
2 x Original black inner sleeves for the vinyl. One side die cut window allowing one side of the vinyl label to be visible.
Gatefold top-loader sleeve manufactured by Garrard & Lofthouse International Ltd. Original heavy card and fully laminated: Externally and on the open gatefold.
4 x Photos (20 x 29 cm) of each of the Beatles on the original heavier photo stock.
Folded poster (57 x 87 cm) with photo-montage on one side and full lyric sheet occupying the other side.
I'm no expert, but have been as critical as possible based what I would want to know I if purchasing. All graded below.
Seeing as it can be a contentious issue, I do not clean the vinyl other than using an anti-static brush.
Vinyl/Visually - Very Good. Some very minor surface marks, that I would class as acceptable due to movement into sleeve. Side 2 shows a more prominent mark that runs from edge to just past the far side of the label but does not impact the playback quality, at all.
Vinyl/Playback - Excellent. After playing each side 3 times, I would say it is jump-free with very limited background noise.
Labels - Excellent. Very very slight spindle lines on the darker labels (1+3) but need to squint to see them, in strong light.
Gatefold Sleeve - Excellent - Lamination all in good condition. Externally, some very slight wear at the top openings and the outer corners. If held up to a strong light, there are some acceptable markings that are not visible in normal light. Spine still strong with no visible weaknesses. Spine text just about visible.
Photographs - Excellent - All photos are in excellent condition. No pin holes as a lot of these were used as posters. If I was being critical, I would say the border of Ringo is showing some very small blemishes. All others do not. Read into that what you will!!
Inner Sleeves - Very Good - No splits to either. Top RHS of sleeve one appears to show an imprint where there may have once been a sticker (index?). Sleeve 2 appears to have same but on all four upper corners. Still in excellent condition. Inner sleeves will not hold the vinyl when shipped to avoid splitting. In addition, poly-inners will be provided for shipment.
Poster/Lyric Sheet - Very Good - Complete and lays flat when unfolded. Starting to show signs of splitting at 2 of the internal cross-sectional folds, where you can see very slight holes at the cross-section. 3 of the 6 external creases have of 5, 3 and 1 cm splits. Please check out photo 12 for the defects mentioned. More obvious on the lyric sheet side. Even though I have been very thorough in describing this piece, I would still say the poster is intact and robust.
