BEATLES UK  – WHITE ALBUM, ORIGINAL MONO.

1968 PMC 7067/7068 -  APPLE RECORD LABEL.

A UK FIRST EDITION TOP LOADING MONO PRESSING WITH A UNIQUE SERIAL NUMBER OF ‘0144826’.  ALSO THE MATRIX NUMBER ON SIDE FOUR IS VERY UNUSUAL AS IT IS A NUMBER  ‘ 2’   AND NOT THE USUAL  NUMBER ‘1’ !

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  the double album gatefold sleeve is in very good+ condition, the sleeve would be graded a lot higher but  there is a 25mm ‘split’ !,   to the rear top of the sleeve,  on the outside  opening edge,   this is some  way away from the spine,   but it  is quite discreet and doesn’t notice much.  The  sleeve is very clean and has remained white in colour.    On the front it has a an embossed ‘Beatles’ logo and a unique individual SERIAL Number of 0144826, this number appears clear and bold.  There is no  text printed on the rear of the sleeve proving this to be a genuine MONO sleeve. The records are accessed from the top.  The spine is in excellent condition,  all the text is  clear,   the spine is unusual as it is very clean and white, with hardly any of the usual  ‘flaky’ laminate.  The sleeve features visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down.  When the sleeve is opened is it very white, clean and tidy.  There are NO other tears,  stains or Biro pen writing on the sleeve.

INNER SLEEVES: are the two original black inners and have NOT been  replaced.  The first sleeve is  in very good+ condition,  Two of the edges have some slight rubbing wear.   The other sleeve is also in very good+ condition with  just  some rubbing wear to the bottom edge.

POSTER: is in very good condition,  the poster is very white and clean,  there  is NO sellotape residue,  pin hole damage or blue tack residue.   There is some wear to one of the bottom horizontal folds and it has  come  apart  half way across the  poster,   no repair has been attempted.

PHOTOS: are in excellent condition,  the photos are made from the original thick card.   The rear of the photos are fresh and white with NO sellotape residue,  pin hole damage or Blue tack residue.

VINYL:  sides One and Two are in very good condition, side Three is in Good++ condition and side Four is in very good condition,    the Two records are made of the original ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl and are dark and glossy.   The Matrix nos. are     XEX    709-1,   XEX 710-1,  XEX 711-1  and VERY unusually XEX 712 - 2. The Mother/Stampers are:   ‘ 6   A M ’,   ‘ 4   A A ’,   ‘ 2   G G ’  and  ‘ 3   G M G ’.

AUDIO:  is good+ to very good,   there is some crackle, hiss and some  light  ‘ticks’,     both the records lay flat on the turntable and play  well with NO skips or jumps.

THE LABELS:  are all in very good condition and show NO Biro writing or sticker residue etc.   The labels feature the original DARK green Apple colours.  All Four labels have the text,   ‘An EMI recording’,   all the labels show  ‘Sold in the UK’ text etc.  The George and Ringo songs are listed as  ‘Apple Publishing’.

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback,   I have received One negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received this feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
