Question - Why spend £200-£250 on a perfect 1968 White Album when you can get one that plays as good, or better, that dates from 3 months later? Well, we'd all like the 1st press - let's face it, but not everyone's budget stretches to a top copy...And after all what's most important? - surely, it's how well it plays right?..Read on...
An early 3rd press of the WHITE ALBUM on the UK Apple label spring-1969. Matrix 1/1/2/1. An 'EMI Recording' across one line and no mention of 'Harrisongs' Harrison's new publishing company - which is found on early 70's copies. The heavy set vinyl comes houses in an original side-loading gatefold cover. Please note there are SEVEN digits to the number and this is the format of 1st issue covers - indicating this pressing comes immediately after the 1st/2nd press run. Also included are two original white inner sleeves. Please note - no photos or lyric inner.
Vinyl (Ex+/Ex+) In absolutely superb shape - pretty much miraculous in every way. Think about it...1969..the BEATLES...and what are the chances of that? Under close inspection we struggled to make out a single mark across all four sides - that really is very unusual. Look at the label shots and spindle holes - these LPs have seen a very very light amount of use. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. I have had the pleasure of playing a number of top-end white albums - and this one is right up there. Really really nice rendition - perfect clarity from start to finish. Interference? Nope - zilch - nothing..I don't think I detected more than a couple of crackles [literally] the whole way through. Again - these do not come around everyday.
Cover (Ex+) In immaculate condition - not perfect, but not far off. The White Album is so often faded to some degree on most copies - not here this one is as close to TRUE WHITE - as you could possibly find. The surfaces are mirror like and are almost entirely without creasing. Edge wear is very very light. The spine is in terrific condition - I don't think I've ever see one quite this good. The interior is immaculate and the openings are still sharp. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity.
Inners (Ex) lightest of ageing. No splits.
