Basic History:
The Lost Lennon Tapes was a syndicated, weekly one-hour radio show broadcast on the Westwood One Radio Network from January 18, 1988 – March 23, 1992; distributed to major U.S. radio stations/media markets each week on two LPs (only the three-hour premiere show was on five LPs).
Westwood One Radio’s The Lost Lennon Tapes are not a rare item, but certainly uncommon to find because only major radio stations received them, broadcast once and put aside, and most likely discarded when the series ended in 1992. They are more likely very scarce to find as an entire “sub-set” (broadcast year 1, 2, 3, or 4) with original issue covers and cue-sheets. But not uncommon in Mint condition as most of the albums were played only once.
My Auction:
In the mid-1990s, I traded my genuine and original Yellow Submarine animation art for original and genuine The Lost Lennon Tapes Year 1 and Year 2.
Photos 1 and 2 represent one randomly selected broadcast show (vinyl) for the purpose of demonstrating physical item quality for all LPs. All the broadcast shows are two LPs. You probably know for each broadcast show, DJ vinyl has Side 1 / Side 3 and Side 2 / Side 4. Obviously, so the DJ can cue the next side without stopping the broadcast flow.
[Many, many years ago I cleaned each LP with proper vinyl cleaning products and devices. Then, each LP was given its own Mylar (acid-free, inert) sleeve and "sealed" with acid-free tape and then inserted into a rice paper sleeve that is not "sealed".
Photos 3 and 4 are the front and back of the shrink-wrapped cover for the previously mentioned vinyl. All the 53 broadcast shows have original covers and all 53 covers have no seam splits, no dirt, no writing, etc.; with 50 of 53 covers retaining full shrink-wrap with one or two breath-holes on the backside shrink-wrap. Those shrink-wrap covers have only been opened at the cover mouth. A few of the shrink-wrap covers have the slightest wear at the cover opening (signs of LP removal?). The remaining 03 of 53 covers are not shrink-wrapped, but (again) original to the shows.
Photos 5 and 6 are two original (no photocopies) cue sheets from two different broadcast albums; and they represent (all cue sheets I offer) what was used by the radio DJ during that specific broadcast day. The 32 cue sheets used by DJs for this Lot are listed at the end of this description.
[I determined the broadcast day was probably a Sunday because of the genuine DJ notes of the day and time on some of the cue sheets; and that, perhaps, "Breakfast with the Beatles" still broadcast on Sunday mornings - as that show did before/during/after The Lost Lennon Tapes broadcast years.]
[Therefore, 1989 Box #1 begins with the Broadcast Week of 12/26/88 (88-01) because the end of that broadcast week is Sunday, January 01, 1989. Furthermore, 1989 Box #2 ends with the Broadcast Week of 12/25/89 (89-53) because the end of that broadcast week is Sunday, December 31, 1989.]
Photo 7 and 8 is the front and back softcover book Unfinished Music No. 2 by L.R.E. King, An Unauthorized Companion to Year Two of The Lost Lennon Tapes. 1992 First Edition in As New/Unread condition.
Photos 9 and 10 is Box #1 as I prepare it for eventual shipment. It will be sealed with a cover (Packing Slip inside box) when purchased and paid.
Photos 11 and 12 is Box #2 as I prepare it for eventual shipment. It will be sealed with a cover (Packing Slip inside box) when purchased and paid.
You will see Box #2 has shortened tabs unlike Box #1. I did that many, many years ago to accommodate the softcover book mentioned above. The book will be included when you open Box #2.
Shipping:
Two (2) boxes: each box measures 20 1/2” long, 12 1/2” wide, 14 1/2” high / each box weighs 25 lbs.
The covers are empty from the LPs; each 2 LP set are together, but protected from the cover by cardboard.
In each box I have secured the LPs and covers so they do not shift in shipment.
I pay for Media Mail, Insurance, Signature Confirmation, and Special Handling/Fragile.
