Description
An original 1969 copy of LIB on UK Decca. Well, we'd all like an UNBOXED1969 copy - but a decent playing UNBOXED copy will cost $$$. If you're fussy about the audio - but don't want to compromise on time-frame...look for a smart playing 1969 boxed copy [simples!]. They were pressed heavy like the unboxed copies and sound absolutely fab. Matrix 4/6. Look at the labels - this is an aborted design from the fall of 1969. The larger font employed on the 'Unboxed' copies - is still present. And the tell tale sign of a 60's copy - the inverted tape number on the right side. This habit of inverting the tape number is very much a sixties throwback and was discontinued around this time. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover from 1969. The early copies, like this example, should have had a peep hole to distinguish between mono and stereo. There's the original bespoke LIB inner [without the bag]. We will ship in a same period poly-lined Decca inner for maximum protection. Please note there is NO poster.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation. Lovely quiet intros and inbetweens and the audio comes across with superb clarity. And you're really going to need it to play clean into those tricky moments... Think ... Love in Vain & Silver. These are the fussiest darn tracks on LIB. If it plays clean, as it does here, you know you're onto a winner. Both play really well with just an occasional slight crackle in 'Love In Vain' [much cleaner than you typically find]. If you need to hear LIB in full effect - take a good look at this one. The only vaguest deviation was a few crackles in the super fussy horn intro to YCGWYW. This bad boy is guaranteed to sound identical to a super UNBOXED copy. No better - no worse. You certainly won't ever better the audio on this '69 copy. Absolutely superb and great value. Prepare to be blown away! Highly recommended!
Cover (Ex-) Difficult to find in top level condition like this. Many will look a bit tired by this point in time - but this example is looking very nice indeed. Lovely clean and flat front cover - no signs of ageing....just a couple of minor thumbnails. The rear has escaped most of the usual signs of wear and ageing - it looks really smart. Edge wear is limited and the openings are still firm. The spine is 100% intact with one stress crease. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner original & replacement (Vg+) In very fine condition. Just bear in mind the inner bag has detached. Hence why we're shipping the same period generic inner. Lightest ageing. One side split has been taped up.
