Description

An original heavy set 1st issue boxed mono press from the chart run - most likely Xmas 1969. Matrix 2A/2A. Stampers 1B/1BK - very nice early in sequence. As the earliest unboxed copies in mono go stratospheric for price - a nice boxed mono from a month later is an excellent value for money alternative. The vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue Upton peep-hole cover. This is exactly consistent with a 1st day cover design. There's an original mono Decca inner from October 1969 which completes the aesthetic. Please be aware the Decca inner - is generic for the period. It is NOT precisely the LIB inner with full credits.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a variable level of playback between NEAREXCELLENT and VERYGOOD+  with slight deviation in a couple of spots. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Crank it all the way up and it will keep delivering! By and large a nice clean player - don't expect perfection...but it is hitting all the right notes for me. The signal is pretty clean mostly. I noticed a bit of light static creeping into the signal path for the super fussy 'Love In Vain' & first section of  'Silver'. To be honest - difficult to find these two fully clean on even mint looking copies. Nothing upfront or unpalatable - but don't expect these two to play as clean as elsewhere. Overall - very impressive and up around the sort of level where one can really get into it. A relative steal given what you can pay for a copy from just one month earlier.
Cover (Vg+) In very smart condition with nice clean front and only exhibiting minor ageing. The rear is looking a lot tidier than you often find - without creasing. Slightest handling and slight discolouration top left corner. Nothing unsightly. Very minimal edge wear and firm openings. The spine is in excellent order with hardly any wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Bit creased. Not much ageing. No splits. Bag present.
