Description
An original 1st press of WN on the UK Track label. Matrix 2/1 - 1st cut. Etching "MG12888" - this is signifies 1st pressing. But also make sure you're buying a flat [non-ridged] label - that is matt [not shiny]. If you can tick all those boxes - you have a 1st. Worth going for the 1st copies - they were pressed heavy and sound absolutely fabulous. The vinyl comes housed in an original thick-card MacNeill cover with pinched spine. We also have an original 70's plastic bag warning inner sleeve too.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. There are a couple of very light marks per side - one mark at the side of side 1 does just sound. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Many 1st copies will look good, but slip on some of those quieter moments. But this example is playing clean into all those slow build moments. That's precisely what you need to be looking for. There is, unfortunately, one issue right at the start of side 1 [that mark mentioned above]. The mark is incredibly slight - but it's occurred at the most fussy/revealing point on the whole record. The opening synth chimes at the start of "Baba O'Reilly". It causes about ten slight ticks [not louder clicks] over the synth. Audible - but not upfront. By the time the actual song comes in for real - it's gone. So, it's an audible issue - for sure. But it's worth weighing it up in the round. 99% of this LP plays awesome... much much cleaner than most typical copies. The intro to 'In Tune' - plays cleaner than you typically find. Think about it...!
Cover (Vg) A smart front with only light handling evidence and a couple of light blemishes - and a sticker removal mark top right. The rear usually looks awful - but this example only exhibits relatively light handling. There's a reasonable amount of edge wear. There's some on the spine too, but the text seems still seems fully legible. Overall the cover retains very good rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. Only one 1 c.m. side split.
