Description
Up for auction is a very rare 78 by Walter Jacobs and Lonnie Carter on Okeh Electric label # 45436.Walter Jacobs on guitar also known as Walter Vincson and Lonnie Carter on violin, is also known as Lonnie Chatmon.Both of these guys were in the very famous band The Mississippi Sheiks in the late 1920s to the early 1930s.This record came out about 1930 during the depression.The songs are titled The Jazz Fiddler on one side and has The Sheik Waltz on the other side.This is a great example of an early Country Hillbilly Blues 78.It's also on the 45000 series which was really a country series for the Okeh label.It really is a Beautiful looking 78.The Jazz Fiddler side has extremely light to light scratches with 1 scratch that is ever so slightly deeper but the scratch cannot be felt with fingernail at all.Also has a very small groove dig on the very first 3 grooves of the song.The Sheik Waltz side has extremely light to light scratches with 1 small scratch I can feel very lightly with fingernail.Has a couple small extremely light to light scuffs also.It's a Beautiful 78 although both sides have quite abit groove wear but the grooves still has some shine and alot of life left.Even with the groove wear it's a Beautiful 78 to behold.If the buyer is not 100% satisfied I have a return for refund policy on all records I sell.Buter to pay $4.00 Media rate shipping anywhere in the U.S.Please add $1.00 if insurance is desired.
On May-02-07 at 14:52:41 PDT, seller added the following information: On May-02-07 at 14:56:39 PDT, seller added the following information: On May-02-07 at 17:24:52 PDT, seller added the following information:I was asked to play this 78 to see how it played.The Jazz Fiddler side plays absolutely Beautifully with extremely light static.It was played with the static adjusted at the halfway point.Plays even more quiet with treble turned all the way down.The song is ever so slightly distorted from the groove wear but plays really stunningly for an nearly 80 year old 78.The Sheik Waltz song side plays Beautifully as well with the most extremely light static but is also very slightly distorted from the groove wear.When treble is down the slight distorted noise seem to play more clear but it can still be heard very lightly.Plays really amazing and the guy playing fiddle is absolutely fantastic.E Mail if you have any more questions.Thanks
