Description
The Beatles, With The Beatles, Mono PMC 1206. Original UK 1st pressing with all known identifiers, including: Garrod & Lofthouse flipback sleeve, Emitex inner, and Black Labels with Yellow Parlophone and silver writing. Written on the labels is: "The Parlophone Co..." no “Sold in U.K” text, “Recording first Published in 1963” written over two lines, “jobete” credit for “Money” (Side 2 Track 7), and “You really Gotta Hold on Me” misprint on both label (Side 1 Track 5) and rear of sleeve (replaced by “Got A” on later pressings).
Sleeve: Good+
The original Garrod & Lofthouse flipback sleeve looks good. Corners are strong with only minor rounding and the spine is sharp and clear. The front retains original mirror-like sheen and original dark and gloomy colours. There is a tear across the bottom that has been neatly repaired with sellotape and some bubbling to the laminate near the opening. Otherwise the front is very clean with few other blemishes. The rear is very white with only a few marks here and there. There is very small tear near the opening which is barely noticeable. All in all a respectable sleeve that has been used and enjoyed.
Inner Sleeve: Good
Comes with original lined emitex inner sleeve. Both sides of which are ripped and it is significantly discoloured. Also supplied is a new, anti-static inner sleeve which the disc is stored in (see last picture).
Disc: Good+
Matrix Numbers: Side 1: XEX 447-1N Side 2: XEX 448-1N
The disc is an enjoyable listen. Visually the disc retains some of its original gloss sheen but does have several feelable scratches. Despite this, there are no skips or jumps throughout the recording and very little distortion. There is subtle background noise which becomes more noticeable during the quiet sections but which doesn't detract from the listening experience. This is a well used record that was bought by a true Beatles fan and whom enjoyed listening to it but which is still good enough to be listened to and enjoyed by the next Beatles fan!
Overall a very respectable copy bought and owned by someone who loved listening to the Beatles. This is a rare chance to own an original pressing from 1963!
