Description

An original 1st press of HOTH on the UK Atlantic label from 1973. Matrix A2/B2 - very 1st cut. Stamped with 'RL Sterling'. Please note the labels are consistent with genuine 1st press - there's no Warners logo in the perimeter text and the text does not continue into the northern hemisphere of the label. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original matt gatefold. We also have an mid-70's obi strip. It's not the original UK version from '73, but it looks almost identical particularly from the front and mentions "8-track" in the detail on the rear [i.e. definitely correct for the period, if not exactly the correct '73 version]. We also have an original inner sleeve printed by MacNeill in England with the thumb-notch. We will transport in an anti-static inner for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In very nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. A beautiful player that does a terrific job of showing off the full potential of this Zep classic. Lovely clean audio for the most part with precious little to complain at. Interference is both minor and infrequent. The only deviation I could pick out was a few static crackles during "RAIN" where it slips below the given grading. Now, this is quite common on this track and it's difficult finding an example that eliminates it entirely. Nothing invasive - it's just low-level and audible here and there in the track. It doesn't spoil it..it's just not as clean as the rest of the LP. A very fine rendition of this classic Zep album in true 1st press form..
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has not been abused down the years. Lovely clean front and back and the only vaguely stand out issue is on the front in the top-right..just a small sticker removal mark. This cover seems to have escaped most of the usual surface wear you often find on this title. The interior is impressive - no issues at all. Edge wear is very light and the openings still sharp. The spine looks good pretty much totally intact showing little wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Obi-Strip (Vg+) Not too bad at all considering that many will be in tatters by now or will have been thrown out. Light ageing at the extreme edge and a small one inch tear on the front. I've repaired it from the other side..quite successfully - it looks more like a crease, now, from the front side.
Inner (Ex) Can look quite aged often. But this example doesn't appear to have aged. No splits and just one tiny blemish.
