Description

An original 2nd issue of the Zep Debut on UK Atlantic. Matrix A1/B1. Etchings - catalogue number has 2nd "8" crossed out. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeil cover with orange text and a grey-stripe running along the foot. These are the effective next iteration after those super collectable blue-text versions. Also included is the original plastic bag warning inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In super condition and has only seen very very light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side. There is one minuscule [1mm] mark which does sound momentarily - detail below. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are very very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. This is one of the best examples of the debut I've heard - it really is supremely well preserved. The audio is to die for and tremendously clean and powerful. I'd love to think that ever other copy plays like this, but playback that's this clear and assured is something of a rarity. Those slow-builds and organ sections..tricky, very tricky to find playing clean all the way through. But this copy delivers it...'Your Time Is Gonna Come'...really clear and a quiet background. It's an all round top level performer with only one very slight issue. The deviation is half way through 'You Shook Me' - a tiny 1mm mark causes one click and a couple more minor ticks. All over very very quickly and quite frankly "no big deal at all". This copy is up there with some of the very best I've witnessed. Don't miss out...
Cover (Ex) Again, in superb condition and has clearly been looked after. Lovely clean and shiny front and rear with none of the usual signs of ageing or laminate creasing. Yes, there's a couple of slight creases on the front, and one slightly more substantial one top-left on the rear, but overall it's difficult finding this title looking this darn good. Edge wear is very light and the openings are still sharpish. The spine looks great with all text perfectly legible and only a couple of minor stress creases - sweet! Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains a very impressive example.
Inner (Ex-) No splits. Minimal ageing.
