Would be of interest to someone who is mad keen on getting the best possible copy from an audio perspective - from a genuine 1st press. Someone who can compromise on the cover in order to get the audio - "for good value".
An original 1st press of Zep II on UK Atlantic. Matrix A2/B2 - 1st cut. The labels still mention 'Lemon Song' - as you will find on ALL original copies. Note there are a few air bubbles under the labels - possibly occurred as they were originally applied. The vinyl comes housed in an original E J Day printed cover. Now, it's my opinion that this cover didn't originate with the vinyl. I would expect a lighter tone in the colour for a Xmas-69 original. So, the cover is original to the period [most probably from later in 1970] but would not have been from Xmas'69. We also have an original 'plastic bag warning' inner sleeve too. So, if you're looking for super audio from a 1st press - without breaking the bank... this copy is WELL WORTH A LOOK.<<<<<
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a few very slight marks - but nothing that I would consider troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with very minor deviation in a couple of spots. This copy is impressive and more than capable of conveying the sheer weight in the guitars that later copies just cannot manage to do. It is preserved well - it's preserved to a level that I would find "Very Interesting". This about the level where you finally get to realise how Zep II should, in fact, sound! Bone crushing base and guitar. Quiet passages where the vocal echoes can be heard. Clean instrumental sections - with a quiet background. Clean slow-builds. This example is playing clean into those tricky moments [Bring It On Home / Thankyou]. It's not perfect - but you know what... it's not actually that far from a perfect copy. A couple of ticks in a couple of spots e.g. 'Moby' & "Lemon Song" - [absolutely no big deal at all]. A total banger! Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg) Definitely not up to the standard of the vinyl. So, you really need to be buying predominantly for the vinyl and the quality of the audio. The front looks fine with a touch of wear in a couple of spots. The front panel still retains pretty good rigidity. The rear exhibits a level of wear that is typical of these covers. The interior looks ok - but has faded a wee bit. There's a fair bit of edge wear in places - doesn't appear to have worn through anywhere. The spine is a let down. It's pretty worn and a lot of the text is only semi-legible. Overall the cover retains very good rigidity. Acceptable - no better.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. Bag present. No splits.
