Description

This is the super rare test pressing edition of Spiral Circus from Richard Allen's personal collection. Richard ran Delerium and signed Porcupine Tree in the early 1990s. Every Delerium LP issued had a special limited run of test pressings with custom made sleeves. Spiral Circus was issued in a run of six copies and each copy was enclosed in a white card sleeve with paste on artwork front and back. What makes this edition attractive is the fact that the album proper (issued in an edition of only 500 copies) had an error in the artwork which meant the cover photo was pixelated. On this test pressing however the photo is perfect with clear image of the band performing on stage.
The record is date stamped 5th of December 1996. Also included is a press sheet.
This is an important Steven Wilson/ Porcupine Tree Collectable and only one of these has ever been sold on ebay before and that was back in 2005 by Steven Wilson himself.
SPIRAL CIRCUS - THE RARE LIVE ALBUM
Spiral Circus is the name of the first official live album by British psychedelic rock/progressive rock band Porcupine Tree from their first tour ever. The tracks were recorded directly from the mixing desk in three different locations of England during December, 1993. The first half of the album was taken from the shows in the BBC and Borderline, London, and the second half from The Nag's Head, 'Blues Loft' in High Wycombe (now sadly closed down).
Spiral Circus was first released in 1994 on cassette only. This tape was given away free to subscribers of the Transmission information service. It was then reissued on vinyl in 1997 limited to 500 copies. Both editions are deleted at the present and very rare. Steven Wilson has said many times that he has no intention of reissuing the album and since it includes BBC material it is very unlikley it would see a release with non-BBC material.
Despite the fact that the track is not included, the album name is a reference to a section in the song "The Sky Moves Sideways Phase 1".
