Description

An original 3rd press of PPM on the UK Parlopohone label. Matrix 1N/1N. Remember these 3rd pressings were amongst the first of the new 'Black & Yellow' label variety and come immediately after the super-collectable earliest 'Black & Gold' copies. Just a quick qualification...3rd press does not hold the 'Sold In The UK..' statement or the 'Recording 1st published' statement - and are most certainly from the 1st half of 1963! Also please note on side 1 is the additional 33 speed print error - which is a design overhang from the black and gold series. A small batch of these print errors were the very 1st copies on the Yellow & Black label. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in the original Ernest J Day - 'Gold Cover'. Let me explain...the very 1st Black & Gold copies came in an E J Day sleeve with the McBean publishing credit beginning after the final letter 'S' of the '... 12 Other songS'. It's now known that some of these very early 1st issue covers made it through to the production line for the early 'yellow and black' copies. We have also included a reproduction Emitex inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Vg+/Ex-) In very nice condition despite having seen a moderate level of use. Do expect a few light marks either side - nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a level of playback varying between VERYGOOD+ and NEAR EXCELLENT. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet  and the audio comes across with great clarity. Interference is both minor and relatively infrequent. All we could detect were a few light ticks in one brief moment and then a brief passage of light static in a couple of tracks. Given its age and provenance this really is a very solid decent player.
Cover (Vg-) In nice condition, but is showing signs of its 56 year life. The front is still nice and shiny with on a few creases. The rear is the area wear it's slightly let down. The main issues are a sticker removal mark in the top right corner, a bit of dirt and undulation over toward the opening, and a tape repair to the bottom left corner flipback. Please note the tape-repair is necessary to hold that bottom left corner together - the way it's been done keeps it nice and secure. Do expect a fair bit of edge wear in places. The spine, however, is almost totally intact with just wear at the ends. Overall the cover still retains very good rigidity.
