Description

An original 4th press of PPM in the UK on Parlophone. Matrix 1N/1N. TAX CODE = "ZKT". This pressing would have been available in the shops SUMMER 1963 as BEATLEMANIA was in full swing. There's NO 'sold in the UK' statement, but THERE IS 'recording 1st pub' - this equates to 4th press/issue. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original E J Day cover. We also have the original Emitex inner sleeve with 'patents pending'. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. A close inspection reveals a good few light marks per side, and one superficial trail - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. This is 1963 and playback is of a very high standard. A nice warm clean delivery of some terrific audio. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. All I could detect was a bit of light static intermittently in "There's A Place & Honey" - the two fussiest tracks on the LP]. Not a perfect player, but a very high standard throughout that will leave you wanting for more. A couple of ticks as 'Secret' closes out. And just some slight distortion creeping in at the most dynamic moments of TWIST&SHOUT [No great shakes - just don't expect a perfectly clean rendition, here]. Plays pretty clean into the tricky low-key tracks. Any background audible is both infrequent and minor. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) A very well preserved cover - many examples do not survive in this condition by this point in time. A clean and flat front cover. Just a couple of stress creases at the edge and the indentation of a signature in the white section [at top]. The rear has avoided most of the usual ageing process - just light evidence at the opening. A bit of damage to the flipback down in the bottom right corner. Edge wear is relatively light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy-card employed in manufacture.
