The Beatles Please Please Me Mono 1966 Original LP [Ex+/Ex] SUPER SPECIMEN

Description

An original 1966 mono pressing of PPM on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1N/2N. Please note the perimeter text reads 'Gramophone' and importantly the date 'p1963' is NOT indented vs the tape number. This easily singles this example out as a mid-sixties copy whilst BEATLEMANIA was in full swing. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse mono cover with flipbacks. Also included is the mid-sixties Emi advertising inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In great condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a few light/superficial marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are mostly silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. This is a very nice clean player all the way through - even in those quieter more paired down tracks. Interference is very minor and infrequent. All I detect were a few light crackles in a couple of isolated spots. A top level rendition with very little to complain at.
Cover (Ex) Lovely condition and has been carefully looked after down the years. Nice clean and unaged front with just some thumbnail creases over toward the opening. The rear is in fantastic condition - if only all 60's backs looked this sweet! Pretty much totally free from the usual ageing that afflicts this period. A bit of laminate has come away from the surface of the bottom flipback, but all flipbacks are intact and secure. There's a one inch of wear-through on the midsection of the bottom edge. It has been internally repaired with tape and from the outside it's not that noticeable. The spine seems pretty much entirely intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains a terrific looking example.
Inner (Vg+) Very little ageing. One edge split has been taped up. Otherwise very nice condition.
