Description

An original 1st stereo press of LIB on the UK Decca label. Matrix 1W/2W - very 1st cut. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original cover printed in England by Senol - these are believed to be the very 1st printers of this title. Also included is the original LIB bespoke inner sleeve with the 'London Bach Choir' credit still legible [it was redacted on later copies]. Also included is a Decca 70's inner sleeve to house the LP.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and looks to have only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are practically silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. The audio quality is stunningly as you'd expect from an early Decca pressing which is well preserved. Interference, thankfully, is both minimal and infrequent. I couldn't detect more than a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments. Love In Vain plays CLEAN...The low-key section of Rambler plays CLEAN. An absolutely storming rendition and one that would be very difficult indeed to improve upon.
Cover (Ex) LIB is a really difficult cover to find in top condition - particularly that unprotected rear. This copy has survived the years in surprisingly fine form. Lovely shiny front which is exhibiting nothing more than two tiny thumbnail creases. The rear is good too just minor handling and the lightest ageing in one or two spots. Edge wear is light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat. A beautiful specimen.
Inner (Vg+) A bit of creasing and one small split at bottom edge. Will come housed in a 70's Decca inner sleeve.
