Description

An original 1st issue of WN on the UK Track label from Xmas 1971. Matrix A1/B3 [Not the very earliest 1st cut]. Etching MG12888 / 'Bilbo'. Very earliest copies were pressed in late summer 71. This copy is one iteration further along and would have been available for purchase just a matter of months later for the Xmas market [71]. 1st issue labels should be flat [not ridged] and be matt NOT shiny. Well worth insisting on the 1st issue copies as they were pressed heavy - and sound fab. We also have the original MacNeil 1st issue cover with pinched spine [identical to a 'day of release' copy]. There's the plastic bag warning poly-lined inner from the time. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of minor deviations. Very nice power and authority coming off this early copy. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. By and large a lovely clean player in most areas. Expect nothing more than a few crackles in, perhaps, a couple of isolated moments e.g. intro to Getting In Tune. Otherwise expect a top level performance. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex-) Truly a pain in the derriere to find in excellent condition. This example gets close. Lovely clean and flat front without creasing or ageing. The rear is usually the difficult spot - but this example doesn't seem to have suffered the usual level of surface wear...just a touch of low-level and a couple of minor creases. Very nice deep blacks - better preserved than the average copy. Edge wear is pretty minor too with sharpish openings. The spine is pretty much 100% intact - very impressive for this particular title. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very find specimen.
Inner (Vg+) A bit of ageing. No splits.
